What stood out or challenged you in the passage today?
What is the symbolic significance of the number twelve and seventy [Exodus 15:27]? Where else have you seen these numbers? Trees and watered gardens are places where gods dwell in Ancient Near Eastern Mythology. What is Elim a picture and a reminder of?
As the Israelites set off from Elim toward Mount Sinai, to meet with YHWH, they start moaning [Exodus 16:1-3]. How often are we like this as we start to journey back into the wilderness? Why was the Israelites behaviour inexcusable?
What is God’s response to their grumbling [Exodus 16:4]? But there is a condition. What is it [v5]?
Read John 6:31-35. What is the true bread from heaven? Having you eaten that bread?
Read 2 Corinthians 8:15. According to Paul what is Exodus 16:16-21 teaching the people?
Read the passage again and note anything else that stands out or challenges you. Pray that the Holy Spirit would enable you to change and be more like Jesus and demonstrate the unity we have in him.
