Questions
This is our first week in Exodus. What stood out or challenged you in the passage today?
Read, or skim through, Genesis 46:8-27 and note especially verses 8 and 27. What is the significance of the number seventy? Hint: Genesis 11.
The Israelites had become enslaved in Egypt? Who did Jospeh’s brothers enslave? Who did Joseph enslave? Look again at Exodus 34:7 from our Character of God series. What’s happening? Does sin have consequences?
The Israelites have multiplied? Who did YHWH promise this to? Is God faithful despite the Israelite’s sin?
What does Pharaoh command in verses 16 and 22? Do you think Pharoah is being handed over by God to his sin?
Why did the Egyptian midwives let the Hebrew boys live? How did God bless the midwives?
Read the passage again and note anything else that stands out or challenges you. Pray that the Holy Spirit would enable you to change and be more like Jesus and demonstrate the unity we have in him.
