The good news [gospel] is not that we are okay. Why are we not okay [Genesis 3, John 3, Romans 1, 1 Corinthians 15, Ephesians 2 etc.
How would you explain "sin" to someone who is not familar with the bible or the Christian story/worldview?
The good news is not simply that God is love. How does Exodus 34:6-7, the most often quoted verses in the OT, reveal the character of God? Compare these verses to 1 John 4 8. Is John being simplistic?
The good news is not simply that Jesus wants to be our friend. How does Jesus describe himself in Mark 8:27-38? You may also want to read or skim Isaiah 53, Daniel 7 etc.
Jesus’s death is often presented as a sacrifice involving his blood [Ephesians 2:13; Romans 5:9; Colossians 1:19–20 etc.]. What is the significance of shedding blood [Exodus 24:3-8; Luke 22:20; 1 Corinthians 11:25; Hebrews 9:18]?
The good news is not simply that God will renew creation. What does proclaiming and living out the gospel look like in our context?
What is repentance [Mark 1:15; Acts 20:21; etc]?
