Questions
This our third week in Exodus 34:6-7. What stood out or challenged you in the passage today?
Why does God get angry if he is a loving God? What is the purpose of God's anger?
How long were God's people, the Israelites in slavery in Egypt? Was God quick in being angry against Pharoah?
How long are your nostrils? How about when you are driving!? How does this contrast with God's anger? How might our sinful anger distort our perception of God's anger? What should be our response to gender-based violence, human trafficking, child abuse etc?
Who is judged the most strictly? God's people of those outside the kingdom? Why was Jesus punished [Isaiah 53:5-6]? Why does "abounding with loyal love" immediately follow "slow to anger" in Exodus 34:6?
Read Nehemiah 9. This is about 1000 years after the events of Exodus? Has God's character changed? How has God been slow to anger?
Read the passage again and note anything else that stands out or challenges you. Pray that the Holy Spirit would enable you to change and be more like Jesus and demonstrate the unity we have in him.
